Features

The discipline great investors write about, built as a tool

Hindsight bias rewrites your memory. A decision journal is the only defence - and this one grades you.

Two entry types

A quick Decision entry for everyday calls, or a full Investment memo for deals - both capture context, reasoning and your state of mind.

Memos for every asset

Venture keeps the Sequoia structure; Real Estate, Equities, Fixed Income and Crypto get their own sections - comparables, tokenomics, credit.

Plan, goals & budget

Record the amount, monthly budget, costs and a goal - three scenarios project on a fan chart against a dotted "just buy the index" benchmark.

Track, then exit

Log actual values and they land on the projection as dots - and when you sell, the realized % p.a. is solved and compared with what the memo promised.

Predictions with confidence

Attach concrete, falsifiable predictions to every entry, each one with its own confidence slider - so the journal can score you honestly later.

State of mind & checklist

Tired, stressed, rushed? Tilt states are flagged, nudge you to sleep on it, and Stats shows whether tilt actually costs you good decisions.

Process vs luck grading

On review day each prediction is graded and the decision is judged separately from the outcome - the four-quadrant framework that improves judgement.

Portfolio insights

Stats roll every plan up: allocation by asset class, a combined projection curve, goals on track, a concentration warning and three calibration charts.

Addenda, not edits

Updates after the decision date become dated addenda - the original stays untouched, so hindsight can never quietly rewrite the record.

Import notebooks & articles

Drop years of notes or spreadsheets into the chat - or paste an article link and the decision it raises becomes a pre-framed entry.

Year in Review

The whole journal bound into one annual document - every grade, every calibration curve, every goal - the year's judgement on paper.

Share, PDF & calendar

Share links for partners, memo PDFs with projections and insights, a Year in Review binding the whole journal, and .ics review reminders.

How the journal makes you better

The memo

Institutional-grade memos, personal scale

The Investment type walks you through the sections a top firm demands before a deal - tailored to the asset class, from venture rounds to rental yields to tokenomics. Writing them forces the thinking; storing them creates the record.

  • Six asset-class templates over one structure - switching never loses text
  • Plan, goals & budget with three projected scenarios and a benchmark line
  • State of mind captured at decision time - tilt shows up in the data

The review

Grade the process, not just the P&L

A good outcome from a bad process is luck you will pay back. On review day, each prediction is scored, the value is recorded against the projection, and the decision is graded on its own merits - with the state you decided in shown beside it.

  • Predictions graded correct / incorrect against your confidence
  • Value at review lands on the fan chart - ahead of or behind the plan
  • Exits solve the realized % p.a. and compare it with the memo

"Construction costs stay under $2.4m"70% confident
"Tenant renews at +8% or better"50% confident
The archive

Your judgement, measured three ways

Stats turn the archive into a mirror: are your confidence levels honest, do your return assumptions survive contact with reality, and does deciding tired actually cost you? Import old notebooks so the record starts from the beginning.

  • Calibration chart - stated confidence vs actual hit rate
  • Expected vs realized returns, one dot per exit

Three futures on one fan chart

Give an entry an amount, a monthly budget and a goal, and three scenarios - pessimistic, expected, optimistic - compound monthly against a dotted "just buy the index" benchmark. Logged values land on the chart as dots, and an exit solves the realized % p.a.

  • Fan chart with the goal line and the year it is reached
  • Actuals plotted against the plan - ahead or behind at a glance
  • Exits compare the realized return with what the memo promised

Built-in AI

Just tell it what happened

Ask "which open entries are due for review?", paste an article link to frame the decision it raises, or say "record the warehouse sale at $712k and tell me the realized return." Attach or drag in documents and the AI reads them straight into the app for your review.

Record the current value of the Hamilton Rd warehouse: $694,000.
✓ Value recorded. It is $15,400 ahead of the expected path - the $1.1m goal stays on track for year 6.
How accurate have my high-confidence predictions actually been?
✓ Of 12 predictions you made at 80%+ confidence, 7 were graded correct - 58%. You're overconfident in that band, mostly on market-timing calls. Your 50-70% band is well calibrated at 63%.
Beautiful reports

Your memos, bound and portable

Any entry exports as a properly formatted memo PDF - projections, scenario analysis, the fan chart, plan-vs-reality tables and plain-English insights alongside the reasoning. The Year in Review binds the whole journal: every grade, every calibration, every goal.

Questions

Frequently asked

What exactly is a decision journal?

A record of your reasoning written before the outcome is known - what you decided, why, what you predicted and how confident you were. On review day you grade the process separately from the result. It is the discipline Kahneman, Bezos and most great investors recommend.

Do I have to write a full investment memo every time?

No - the memo structure is for deals worth the rigour. For everyday decisions there is a lighter type: situation, reasoning, prediction, confidence, review date. Two minutes.

What stops me quietly editing a memo after the fact?

Entries autosave with history, and updates after the decision date are recorded as dated addenda - the original stays untouched. That is the entire value: a record hindsight cannot rewrite.

What is "process vs outcome" grading?

A good decision can turn out badly and a reckless one can get lucky. On review you grade both separately, which is the only way to learn whether your process - not the market - deserves the credit.

How do the projections work?

Each plan compounds monthly across pessimistic, expected and optimistic returns, after contributions and costs, against your goal and an optional index benchmark. When you sell, the realized return is computed and compared with what the memo promised. Illustrations, not advice.

Why does it ask how I'm feeling?

Because tilt is a process risk. Deciding tired, rushed or stressed gets flagged at the time, nudges you to sleep on it, and is graded against your outcomes - so the data can tell you what tiredness actually costs.

Can I import decisions I made years ago?

Yes - drop old notes, journals or spreadsheets into the chat and the AI creates one entry per decision it finds, dated historically. Your calibration data starts from the beginning, not from today.

Is my journal private?

Entirely. Entries live in your own account and are never shared unless you export a memo PDF yourself. Nothing is sold, shared or mined.
